Purposeful Choices Drive Progress in Sustainability
Hi friend,
As organizations plan for the years ahead, sustainability will play an increasingly important role in shaping technology decisions, investments, and innovation strategies. Across Canada, clients are asking the same question: How can we reduce our environmental footprint without compromising performance, security, or growth?
Our answer is rooted in sustainable IT, helping organizations design, procure, manage, and retire technology in ways that are smarter for both business and the planet. This month, we’re proud to mark a meaningful milestone in Compugen’s sustainability journey, with recognition from a key partner for our commitment to responsible, sustainable IT.
Over the past year, we’ve advanced our sustainability agenda with measurable progress, including:
Major environmental gains through waste diversion: From January to July 2025, Compugen prevented 168 metric tons of CO₂ emissions, saved 622 mature trees, conserved more than 290,000 gallons of water, and reduced energy use by 75,000 kWh, maintaining an average waste-diversion rate above 76 percent.
Expanded Green4Good impact and circular recovery: Through Green4Good, we recovered more than 225,000 kilograms of materials and avoided 85 metric tons of greenhouse gas emissions, resulting in a net reduction of 77 metric tons.
Strengthened community and global sustainability initiatives: Winterfest, Compugen’s annual community-building event, raised more than $30,000 for charities across Canada. We also partnered with the First Nations Health Authority and Green4Good to deliver refurbished technology to the Nunya Music Academy in rural Ghana, expanding access through a refurbished computer lab.
As our Founder + CEO, Harry Zarek, says:“Sustainability isn’t an add-on for us. It’s part of the way we design solutions, guide decisions, and help organizations move forward with confidence.”
From lifecycle services that extend device longevity and reduce e-waste, to circular IT programs, energy-efficient infrastructure, and responsible recycling, our approach is designed to deliver real outcomes and lasting impact.
As we close out the year, we’d like to thank our clients, partners, and communities for being part of this journey. Wishing you a happy holiday season and a sustainable, successful year ahead.
What Quebec’s Public Sector Told Us About Cybersecurity
When Compugen launched its Security Insights Activation, powered by Power Apps, the mission was simple: listen. Twenty-two Quebec-based organizations shared what’s really holding back security progress — from limited budgets and complexity to a lack of clear guidance. Those insights led to something actionable: Compugen’s Security Workshops, built to help leaders strengthen governance, visibility, and data protection.
Our annual Winter Mixer series is a flagship event that brings customers, Compugeners, partners, and community together across Ottawa, Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, and Toronto.
Designed as both a networking opportunity and a thank-you to our customers, the 2025 series created space to reflect on the year behind us and celebrate the continued success ahead.
Each event also supported a local organization, resulting in more than $19,000 raised for causes focused on children, families, animals, and food security. A strong close to the year, grounded in connection, gratitude, and community.
