Richmond Hill, Ontario (6 November 2018). Compugen Finance Inc (CFI) is pleased to announce that its innovative program CarbonBank™ won the 2018 Best Creative Innovation Award at the Town of Richmond Hill’s Creativity Connected Awards. The award was announced at The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts on 6 November.
The Best Creative Innovation Category involves a new innovation (event, product, partnership or other format) that results in business and community economic benefit.
CarbonBank is the world’s first program to generate verified carbon credits through the refurbishment and resale of technology, deferring the acquisition (and, therefore, the manufacturing) of new equipment.
The panel, in announcing the award, described CarbonBank as “innovative” and “ground breaking,” while Steve Glover, President of CFI, noted that CarbonBank aims to repurpose 500 000 IT assets and offset 250 000 tons of CO2e from the carbon credits generated from the refurbishment and resale of those assets .
CFI’s Brent Smiley was present to accept the award on behalf of the team.
